Icon Plastics Ltd is a precision injection mould company, making plastic parts and components to be used across a range of industries. First established in 2001, it now employs 42 people across two sites in Eaglescliffe on the Durham Lane Industrial Park.

The business has seen year-on-year growth and continues to invest in the latest processes, automation and staff training. It supplies parts to manufacturers of electronics, automotive, agricultural, construction, medical, furniture and industrial sectors to name a few.

Icon Plastics' parts are used by Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover, and during the Coronavirus pandemic it supplied over 150,000 medical ventilator backup battery housings.

The company is eco-minded too. All of its products are recyclable and it has invested in a solar farm of 500 panels to help power its factories with green energy.

Gareth Thomas, Managing Director, said: "Although the last 18 months have been challenging with Brexit and Coronavirus, we've continued to supply critical market sectors such as medical instruments, filtration, lighting and the agricultural supply chain.

"We are very optimistic for 2022, with new contracts starting in January which will bring over 20 jobs to Stockton-on-Tees. Manufacturing is definitely on the up and as customers begin to source their supplies from the UK, we can offer better lead times, more assured quality, and reduced delivery times with cheaper and greener transport."
