Billingham Riverside and Chemical Complex, Seal Sands and North Tees
Located on the north bank of the River Tees are the Billingham Riverside and Chemical Complex, Seal Sands and North Tees sites.
The sites reflect Billingham's chemical heritage which began in the 1920s with the production of ammonia, fertiliser and plastics by the past owner ICI. Today a range of companies are here from a range of sectors including:
- chemical and processing
- life sciences and biotechnology
- manufacturing and engineering
- energy and environment
These sites are ideally positioned for servicing the North Sea and offshore industries. Supportive infrastructure includes an extensive network of pipeline corridors and tunnels which bring the sites together, with those on the south bank of the River Tees facilitating the transfer of chemicals and helping to achieve our ambition of becoming the world's first net zero industrial cluster by 2040.
